... Web Accessibility for People with Disabilities. ...
It is obvious just by the title and first chapter of this book that the author believes that Web sites should be designed so people who see and hear and sit differently can view them. Paciello argues that the Web serves to further isolate and marginalize people with disabilities (for example, people who are blind have a hard time surfing the Web because even if they have a system that “reads” them the text of the Web page, they can’t see the graphics and miss half of the information; people who are deaf can’t listen to audio files, and can’t receive audio information at all if a transcript isn’t provided).
