Addictiveness Of The Net
The popularity of Internet gaming has more then doubled over the last 5 years. But with the increase in gaming pleasure comes an even greater risk that peoples minds will be rotted away. All online only games, or "Massivily Multiplayer" games as they are usually called, take players to a world of fantasy and adventure where they can forget about the real world. The online game EverQuest has become so popular that players actually often refer to it as "EverCrack"2 .The problem is that many of these people play the game for hours a day!! This often cuases these players to loose touch with reality, it usually begins with the occasional missed chore or forgetting to do homework, but within just a few weeks some people can Forget to do school assignments or even forget to go to work as resposibilty goes out the window. This will really harm a person, especially a student, as they will often not develop (or lose existing) work skills and will become irresponsible which can make it hard in both the workplace and in schools. The church does definitely not accept this type of behaviour, as one of the seven deadly sins is laziness. Like all addictions online gaming can cause players to become angry and even violent when they are denied the right to play. Sometimes players will even dream of wanting to play the game rather then concentrate on the real world. In one case a young man actually killed himself because of the game. He was so addicted to the game that he would end up playing it 20 hours a day!!! This kind of behaviour Is not accepted by the church as we are not supposed to cherish our possessions more then our family and friends.
Online education is quickly becoming very popular. More and more people prefer to stay at home to take a course so that they will not have to get up and go anywhere.
