Access Granted
There has yet to be a more advanced technological tool since the computer was built. The personal computer has touched so many lives throughout the world and United Sates. You can't find a single person in the United States that hasn't been affected in their life by a computer. Computers are such a must in toady's world. They are used for many different things. Computers can be used to communicate with people across the world, finding information on certain subjects, and literally doing thousands of simple tasks in just seconds.
This need for computers has also increased the amount of people who actually own or have access to a computer. The National Census Bereau did the last survey on computer ownership in 1998. The results showed 46.8% of the people surveyed across the U.S. said they do own a computer as shown on the figure on page 3 of this report. Remarkably this is nothing near close to the 77.4% of people that have access to a computer either at school or at work. Where the really big numbers of computer ownership are in college students. In a survey done at UC Daivs College, it found nearly 92% of students living on campus own a computer.
Computers have helped us in so many ways. For instance, communicating across the world. People now are able to "Chat" with a person almost instantly with out using a telephone. This could save you money on your phone bills if you do have a loved one or someone you know a long distance away. This type of communication has increased the number of over sea sales and trading between countries. The "E-mail" or Electronic Mail, is just like writing a letter to a person without having to make the trip with the post and saves you lots of time.
Another reason computer ownership has increased is because of the ability to find and search for information on the Internet. You can find almost anything you can think of or are looking for with a computer. Computers now have helped in business helping them...
