Attica Basketball

The Ramblers traveled to Sheridan Saturday to take on the Blackhawks in a non-conference match up. Similar to last week, the Ramblers were going to face a taller frontline as the Blackhawks were fortunate to have 6'8" All-State candidate Matt Webster move into their school district. Sheridan was coming of a 2 win season, and were looking to match that total already this season against the Ramblers.

The Ramblers had trouble getting out of the blocks last week, and this start was no different. Attica struggled to put points on the board early as Sheridan would use the opening quarter to gather a 9 point lead.

The second quarter was physical as the Ramblers tried several different matchups to try to slow down Webster in the middle. Attica played him physical and were called for several fouls against the big man. The foul trouble lead to plenty of free throw attempts by the Blackhawks who extended their lead out to 29-17.

The Ramblers were playing decent basketball, but were unable to put points on the board and get a couple of breaks to fall their way. Attica would play the Blackhawks pretty even in the second half. The Ramblers had several opportunities to cut the lead to single digits, but shots just wouldn't fall. Open looks by Brent Swift, Zach Gilmore and Ross White just wouldn't find the bottom of the net. The Rambles would get some things going and seem to have the momentum in their favor, but a couple of calls (an obvious over and back by the Blackhawks to mention one) would take the "wind out of the sails".

Attica would make one last run in the last quarter with Travis Kirby and Nathan Burton draining shots from behind the arc and Ryan Francis, Jacob Wolfe and Ross White crashing the boards for some easy lay-ups.
