Athletes Are Not Paid Fairly
It seems that no one can agree on how much or how little an athlete deserves to be paid. As a result we have professional athletes that are being paid enormous salaries, semi-professional athletes that are paid very nominal salaries, and amature athletes that are not being paid at all. Athletes these days are unfairly paid.
Professional athletes such as those in the National Basketball League (NBA), and Major League Baseball (MLB) are paid an average of 4.2 million dollars annually. The average salary of the person who enjoys watching there favourite player's play whether it be from the comfort of their own home or at the playing field itself is 52 000 dollars. Many people are aware of the salaries there favourite athletes make, and they may feel injustice to the fact that they work hard everyday, for the money that they earn but this does not discourage them from continuing to enjoy their athletes, and in the long run help to pay the athletes enormous salaries with there own income.
The second type of paid athlete is the typical paid athlete. An example of this is the average pay of an athlete in the Canadian Football League, which is 40 000 dollars. The average fan of the CFL does not take in to consideration how much each player makes; they are more concerned about the play on the field. However many CFL players need to hold second jobs during the off-season to be able to maintain a healthy living. This has an effect on their playing abilities because it leaves them less time to train for their profession. With less trained players on the field it is harder for the CFL to compete with other sport leagues since the overall game on the field is weaker. Amid less fans watching there is less income for the league, which keeps the average salary of a CFL player down.
