Introduction

Although the Holocaust only took place sixty years ago, it was an extremely important event in history. It was a huge catastrophe because of all innocent lives that were involved. This essay looks at the Holocaust from a religious point of view and explains how it has affected the views of Jewish people.

The Holocaust was the genocide of, six million Jews. It took place from 1941 to 1945 all because of one man who thought the Aryan race was superior to all the other races and that the Jewish race was ‘impure'. The Nazi's decided to kill all the Jews because he succeeded in persuading those around him to have hatred for the Jews and to believe in anti-Semitism,

Throughout history, the Jews have been persecuted from the beginning when they were enslaved by the Pharaoh in Egypt to the Babylon Captivity to the Diaspora when the Jews were dispersed throughout the world.

Section A

The Holocaust was different from earlier persecutions because during the Holocaust, Jews were persecuted because the Nazi's blamed for creating Germany's problems including the economic depression. They also persecuted the Jews because the Nazi's believed that the Aryan race (pure Germans) was superior to other races and that the Jews were a risk to the purity of the Aryan race. This was because Hitler and the Nazi's wanted to produce a race of supermen who would all have blonde hair and blue eyes. Even though Hitler himself did not have blonde hair and blue eyes, he somehow managed to convince many Germans that the idea of anti-Semitism and the superiority of the Aryan race were true. Anti- Semitism means hating the Jews or discriminating and persecuting them because of what they believe in or what their race is.

In the earlier persecutions, the Jews were also blamed for problems like the plague but some people were scared and didn't realize about all the different beliefs that the Jews...
