In the Mayflower Compact, the Pilgrims agreed that the primary purpose of their new colony was, “the glory of God and advancement of the Christian faith” (55). The New England Confederation described their mission as, “to advance the Kingdom of God” (58). New Hampshire made laws that included the words, “whoever will fully presume to blasphemy the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, with direct express, presumptuous or high handed blasphemy, either by willful or obstinately denying the truth, God, or His creation or government of the World” (59). ... Every person who shall be chosen a member of either house or appointed to any office or place of trust… shall… also make and subscribe the following declaration to wit:
“I, ________, do profess faith in God the Father and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, and I do acknowledge the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be given by divine inspiration” (DeMar 65). ... ” In this situation if the government says no to God then they are saying there’s no Creator.
