... What I had set out to determine was what could religious leaders teach business professionals about ethics. How do churches deal with secular ethics issues? The religious people that I did indeed reach were wonderful to talk to and made this project a learning experience. I surveyed 4 religious organizations and followed up with research. The correlations between religious ethics and business ethics is not a new venture for centuries religious leaders have had a hand in business and politics it has only been since the industrial revolution uncertainty about the relationship between church and business has come about. Students of business ethics and management agree that the Ten Commandments provide the moral foundation or both individuals and groups. ... Sincerity and honesty in business conduct and organizational relationship are vital for any endeavor. ... Violation of business contracts and agreements endangers a healthy business environment. ... Reverend Fisackerly stated that when he is faced with a secular ethical dilemma the first thing he does is gather all of the possible information. ... There is not an ethics committee however each individual committee deals with the ethical issues that effects their realm. ... As I ended my conversation with the Reverend I asked him what message he would like to pass on to business leaders and he believes that the failure in the business community to perform its duties ethically are due to the fact that most have forgotten the Ten Commandments and that as a society we have rewarded people in business for being unethical. ... She said that a combination of her legal and management training along with her religious beliefs formed her ethical principles. ... The first action when she is faced with an ethical dilemma is to understand all the sides of the issue. ... Today, among other issues, the committee analyzes and monitors corporate behavior on the environment, equality in the workplace, overseas ethical criteria, arms contractor’s ethical criteria, health concerns and bank lending practices to minorities. The committee meets twice yearly and by regular conference calls; it has produced resources and holds programs on different aspects of ethical investing. ... In a conversation with the vicar I was passed to Patricia as the person to speak with regarding ethics and church business.
