Justification For Suicide
Are there any circumstances that justify suicide? Explain. If you feel that some suicides are justifiable, would it also be justifiable to help someone end his or her life? Explain.
Because I did not want this to be a bias opinion, I decided that since I had my homework with me at the beauty salon it would be ok to ask the other patrons what they thought of this question. First, let me say this is a salon of African American's only so maybe this is still a bias opinion. I ask the opinion of three individuals, two female and one male from the adjacent barbershop.
The first female states, " There is always a solution, everyone has trials and tribulations but they do not commit suicide. They seek help from others. Because of my religious convictions and background you do not have the right to take your own life. It is morally and spiritually wrong. What possible solution can be seen in the taking of a life? In almost every occasion there is a family left to deal with the pain. Some times the entire family is taken because one person feels there is no other way out."
The second female states, " There are so many ways of dealing with trials and tribulation today that taking ones life seem like a cop out or the easy way out. It is so much easier to give up than to give in to a situation. But for me suicide it not the solution, now or ever.
The young man from the barbershop had plenty to say which I found to be very interesting.
He states, "The black man has had to deal with such hardships for so long that they tend to be willing to continue with the struggle. Where as the white man will give in to the struggle much faster than the black man because he really has not had the same hardships.
Even during slavery times as harsh as they were for blacks they were not committing suicide. But some of the masters were for a mere reason of slow crops. Then too the Blackman has watched their parents and grand parent go thru...
