Just War Theory
The Just War Theory states the following. 1: The cause must be just. 2. Must be undertaken by legitimate authority. 3. The intension may be right. I'm a just war person. I believe that President Bush has met all the requirements of this theory. The President had a last resort, he had the need for a declaration of war, and there is a reasonable hope of success.
I have obtained information from the internet on speeches made by President Bush. He stated that he would stop terrorism all over the world. This is a right intension. You can't just allow a group of people to come into your country and kill thousands of civilians. Pacifists may see it as such. They may see it as if we have a war with the country that destroyed ours that we would just be as evil as they are. But you can't allow someone to get away with doing that. So this would also fit the criteria as having a just cause.
The President also had a last request before he would attack on Afghanistan. He asked them to hand over the terrorists that had caused much chaos on September 11, 2001. He followed all the steps he needed to in order to declare war. What country is war to be declared on is the question that remains? Any country that supports the terrorists and hides them, we should go against them. President Bush wants to get rid of terrorism in every aspect possible. This is his reasonable hope of success.
I am a defender of war and not a Pacifist. I believe that President Bush has every right to declare war on any country that defends terrorism and protects the terrorists.
