... The accounts described in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are all similar, but which would best describe the Resurrection and give some idea of why it occurred? ... The commission to proclaim the gospel of salvation is also short and not descriptive enough for my purpose. ... John even tells of Jesus’ charge to Simon (Peter) to love others as he loves Him and to spread the Gospel. The emotional aspect of John’s telling can be helpful, but Luke’s account not only tells the story, it is more eloquent in its narration.
Luke tells of the Resurrection in parts: the discovery of the empty tomb, Jesus’ appearance to two disciples during the journey to Emmaus, Jesus’ appearance to the disciples in Jerusalem, His final instructions, and the ascension.
