Do not know what religion means
Gandhi said that the Truth is whatever one feels in one's heart is morally correct, good and true. Truth is revealed by a silent inner voice. Every human being feels different just because all human minds evolve in so many different ways. Truth to one person is so much different from the concept of Truth for another individual. Gandhi's concept of Truth can be described through his belief with God, truth versus violence, Satyagraha and children being the child of God.
The ultimate Truth was Gandhi's God. He regarded Jesus being the supreme because HIS sermon at the mount HE expressed Truth so eloquently. In contrary to this, Mohammed saw the Truth too and Mohammed clearly described it in the Koran. The Koran is considered the most beautiful writing of the Arab world. Buddha also knew the Truth and yet Buddha has different ways to describe the Truth. According to Gandhi no religion is right or wrong since there are million of ways to describe God. The descriptions of God and goodness that all the religions share in common are parts of the Truth that is God.
Gandhi did not believe in Jesus as being God's only son although he accepted the Christian morality. For what Gandhi believed in, all creatures humans nor animals alike, are the children of God. Jesus is the superior above all human and animal beings since HE understood the Truth. Humans in the other hand are superior above animals since they are capable of seeking the Truth and of making moral decisions. Humans have the capability to rise above violence by understanding the Truth. Animals have no such free will and therefore are locked in and trapped in the world of violence.
