Adam And Eve
After God created the heavens and the earth, God formed man from the dust off the ground and breathed life into him. God placed the man in the Garden of Eden. In this garden, God created trees for food, the tree of life, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden he commanded that he could eat of any tree in the garden except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and if he did he would die. God then made a partner for Adam out of one of Adam s ribs. God created a woman to be Adam s wife to live an unending life with no evil. Adam and his wife walked around naked and were not ashamed of it (Genesis 2). All Adam and his wife had to do was to obey God and not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and they would live a perfect life.
When a serpent in the garden convinced Adam s wife that eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would open their eyes and make her like God and know both good and evil, she ate the fruit and Adam did too. The serpent convinced them that they would not die and they were curious of the wisdom God knew but they were not aware of the consequences they would face. Their eyes were open and they gained the wisdom that only God knew. When Adam and his wife heard the Lord walking in the garden, they hid themselves because they were ashamed of their nakedness and felt guilt from eating the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God learned of what Adam and his wife had done and punished them for disobeying him. God brought pain to childbirth and cursed the ground that Adam would have to produce food to live. God bought forth death to man and the separation of God from the man (Genesis 3).
The sin in the Garden of Eden brought forth a great deal of alienation. Alienation is a state of estrangement from oneself and the objective world and Adam and his wife felt this when they went against God...
