Abortion
Approximately one-point-six million murders are committed legally each year. After the murder is committed, the dead bodies are discarded like trash. Meanwhile, the murders continue on with the next person that is willing to pay for the murder. Does this sound like sound like a hit-man's lifestyle? It is instead an abortion doctor working at an abortion clinic. This paper will demonstrate the trajectory that abortion is morally unacceptable because the viability of life is in-utero, not just at birth; the Kantian maxims support abortion as an abomination; and the negative effects abortion has on the mother; options other than abortion will be presented.
Abortion is terminating a pregnancy. There are many ways in which practitioners terminate a pregnancy. One possible way is the suction method, where a suction device is inserted into the uterus of the mother, and the baby is sucked out, usually in broken pieces. This process is done within the first trimester or first three months of the baby's life. If the mother is over four months pregnant, an abortion called the partial-birth abortion is performed. The physician uses an ultrasound to locate the baby's feet, and pulls them out of the birth canal. The baby is delivered all the way up to the head. At this point, an instrument is used to puncture the back of the baby's head, and its brains are sucked out so its head collapses; then it can be disposed of. An interesting note to add is that the nervous system begins to develop around three weeks after conception; therefore, babies can definitely feel pain after four months.
The common argument pro-abortionists usually have is that the baby is not yet alive, that the child is just tissue. To be considered alive scientifically, a living organism must exhibit the seven basic properties of life.
