A MUSLIM MOSQUE

The mosque is a place where Muslims foster a collective identity through prayer and attend to their common concerns. The most important characteristic of a mosque is that it should be oriented toward Mecca. The women were separated from the men by a sheer material hung from a metal structure, which divided the room equally. On either side there were large carpets laid out upon the floor.
