Personal Integrity
People of personal integrity have a firm belief in a set of moral values. Being true to oneself and honestly believing that what one is doing is right.


Boxer - A Horse of Integrity
It is hard to find examples of personal integrity in real life, but a good place to find some is in literature. Personal integrity is possessed by someone who has a firm belief in a personal set of moral values. He is true to himself and honestly believes that what he does is right and unselfish. A good example of personal integrity in nature would be the character Boxer from Animal Farm. He showed personal integrity by believing in his set of moral code and working hard.

In Animal Farm Boxer was a horse who was the strongest animal on the farm. But he was not the brightest. Because he was dumb, he only allowed himself two beliefs, "Napoleon is always right," and, "I will work harder." What Napoleon told Boxer might not be right, but Boxer still had integrity because he believed that what he was doing was for the good of the farm. Boxer stuck to his beliefs and honestly believed in his doing until the very end. Boxer was so devoted to his belief in Napoleon that he even got into a horse butchering truck thinking that Napoleon would keep him safe. To hold true to one's beliefs even in the face of death shows integrity.

Another way Boxer showed personal integrity was through his actions. His motto, "I will work harder," was followed strictly. This was no easy motto for oneself. It would be different if Boxer gave himself the motto and never acted on it, but he always followed through with it. He woke up early and went to bed late. He lifted more stone than any other animal, even to the point of injury. He even postponed his retirement so that he could benefit the farm.
