Personal Theory
The theory that I agree with most is Freud's psychosexual theory. It may seem a little outdated or old fashion but it makes sense. The stages of his theory are so blatant and simple some may think that his theory is unresearched or unorganized.
In Freud's theory there are three parts of the personality. The parts are the id, ego and the super ego. The id is the largest portion of the brain and is responsible for the basic needs and desires. The ego is the conscious part of the personality. The ego develops during infancy to rationally direct the impulses of the id. The superego develops between ages three and six. The superego is really the conscience of the personality. It tells the ego the sensible thing to do. The ego is the center of the personality. It can either listen to the id, which is the more irrational part of the personality or the superego, which is the more coherent part of the personality.

The ego tells the baby to suck when a bottle or the mother's breast is present. If the oral needs of the child are not met during this stage there can be many harmful consequences later in life. The child could become dependent on a pacifier, they could bite their nails when they get older or it may even lead to a smoking habit.
During age one year to three years of age the child goes through the anal stage. This is when the child learns how to go to the bathroom on the toilet. They are fascinated by the fact that they are able to hold and release their own feces. If the parent forces a child to potty train before they are ready and the child is scolded every time they have an accident, this could lead to the child being extremely neat and orderly later in life. Since the child was punished every time they made a mess they learned to be neat, in order to not get into trouble. This can...
