Abortion

Abortion
by:Kristina
What is abortion? The dictionary defines abortion as "the termination of a pregnancy after, or accompanied by, resulting in, or closely following by the death of the embryo or fetus." Even though abortion is very inhumane and unethical, it still manages to exist in our society today. In the following paragraphs, I will compare an essay written by a student and an essay written by Leonard Peikoff regarding their own views on abortion.
In the student's essay, she clearly makes mention of that fact that she is against abortion in any way. She states:
"It is a matter of life and death for an innocent human being."
I do agree with what she said about the fetus being an innocent human being. Some might argue that until the baby is actually born, or until the fetus is born, it is not yet a human being. I find this quite disturbing because I, myself, am pro-life. I would never even think about having an abortion. What surprised me when reading her essay was when she provided quotes from abortionists who seemed to really know what they were doing. In my opinion, to do something so unjustified as to killing an INNOCENT life should be prohibited under all circumstances. Another abortionist at a New York City hospital was quoted saying:
"Even now I feel a little peculiar about it, because as a physician I'm trained to conserve life and here I am destroying life."
Aren't doctors supposed to help preserve life? Killing a fetus, born or not, is still murder, and the abortionists who help them take part in that act of murder. Even if they think that the fetus, which isn't...
