A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is written by William Shakespeare. It is not exactly known when this play was first written because there is speculation if Shakespeare actually wrote his plays himself, or is just getting credit for writing them. The first time that any of his plays was written down was in 1623 in The First Folio. This play is known as one of Shakespeare four greatest comedies. William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in April 1564. He received his early education at the Stratford grammar school. When he was older he married Anne Hathaway and had three children, Susanna, Judith, and Hamnet. Shakespeare became very famous all throughout London for his abilities as a poet, actor, and playwright. Shakespeare and his company built the famous Globe Theatre, where they performed many of Shakespeare classics. The original Globe burned down, was rebuilt, and then destroyed by the Puritans. Shakespeare is famous for writing in blank verse and iambic pentameter. He wrote four general types of plays, comedies, histories, tragedies, and romance. His plays were not published until 1623. The book of his plays was called The First Folio. Shakespeare was very successful and when he retired he moved back to Stratford-upon-Avon where he died n April of 1616.
