Tme Matrix And Religion

The Matrix is a sci-fi movie that was released in 1999. The film takes place in the year 2199, in which the world has been taken over by the Matrix, a computer program and is being run by artificial intelligence. In the matrix, humans are being bred to become part of the matrix, and never realize that they live in an artificial world. The movie has many references to Jesus, his followers, and other worlds. I will first begin by showing you how the characters in The Matrix are linked to biblical characters.
The main character of the movie is a computer programmer named Thomas Anderson (played by Keanu Reeves), who also goes by the hacker name "Neo." Neo, is the "one" who is chosen to lead the people out of the matrix and into the real world. Neo in the movie relates to Christ in the Bible because he is an everyday man who will save his people. Neo will die for his people and then be resurrected, just like Christ.
The secondary characters of the movie are Morpheus (played by Laurence Fishburne) and Trinity (played by Carrie-Anne Moss). In the movie, Morpheus is the father image, a champion of Zion, and the leader of the revolution against the matrix. Morpheus is determined to set his people free and show them the "real" world, and uses Neo to do this. This refers, to the Bible when God uses Jesus to set his people free from sin and suffering. However, Morpheus is not only a leader and father figure, but also a forerunner of Neo. He proclaims Neo's coming and believes in him, much like John the Baptist did in the Bible. Trinity, in the movie can be seen in two ways. The first is as the "spirit" in which her name implies. This would make up the trinity between Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity in which the three are inseparable. Also, Trinity is a woman follower and believer in Neo, so therefore she can serve as a Mary Magdeline type.
