Film Analysis Project THE 6th DAY The 6th Day is a science fiction action movie that deals with the controversy about cloning. In the near future, cloning has become acceptable for many lifeforms, but it remains illegal to clone humans. Despite this fact, a group of people around the antagonist Michael Drucker has built up the technology to clone humans and has already cloned humans. The main character is Adam Gibson a helicopter pilot, he is married and has a daughter. Adam is introduced as kind of old fashioned and so he is strictly against cloning anyway. One day when Adam comes home he sees a second Adam already in his house and recognises that he was cloned. Drucker therefore decides that he must be killed because he has to keep his secret about cloning humans. First Adam has to fight alone. But then his wife and daughter are kidnapped and from this moment the two Adams ally to fight together against Drucker and free his wife and daughter. There is another turn in the story when the Adam whom the audience regards as the “real” Adam hears that in fact he is the clone. Nevertheless the two Adams win their fight against Drucker. By destroying the labarotory the clone risks his life because Drucker manipulated the genes of all clones and inserted a disease which causes death in order to make them dependent on their program, they have to be reproduced after they die from this disease. At the end Adam´s attitude toward cloning has changed.
