Eve Black knows about the other personalities, and the psychiatrist uses this to try to keep Eve Black from coming out by telling her that Eve White would be put into an asylum. The psychiatrist uses regressive hypnosis and that is where Jane has a flashback to Eve White, and her mother forcing her to kiss her dead grandma, which is where the split happened.
