Tombstone And Its Inaccuracies
The movie is inaccurate in some ways and no one knows for sure what may have happened. The Cow Boys were a problem in Tombstone but there wasn’t a real leader because the Cow Boys weren’t actually a gang they were outlaws. They also didn’t wear red sashes as gang colors all though some did. In the beginning of the movie it showed the cowboys attacking a Mexican wedding, but the Cow Boys never attacked Mexican Wedding. Doc Holiday had TB and had a quick temper and was always quick to use a gun. He was always out drinking with and smoking and not taking care of himself. He was friends with Wyatt Earp and his brothers.
After Wyatt’s brothers became town sheriff Virgil being the first Wyatt also became sheriff in support of his brother even though he didn’t really want to. In the movie Virgil passes a law that doesn’t allow guns in town. The Cow Boys didn’t comply to the law and that is when Virgil, Wyatt , Morgan, and Doc went to the Ok Coral after someone told them that the Cow Boys had guns in town. That is were this famous gun fight actually took place at an empty lot and not at the OK Coral. Later on they were attacked and Morgan was shot in the back and died.
After the death of his brother Wyatt went out to get revenge on the Cow Boys. During a shootout at a river where it looked like Wyatt was walking on water. In real history Wyatt, Virgil, and Doc were crossing a stream when the cow boys came out and started firing at them.
Also Wyatt never did visit Doc before he died, he didn’t even know that Doc died until 8 years later. Doc also didn’t die in the sanitarium, but died in a hotel.
I don’t think this movie is a very good resource for teaching about the whole history of Tombstone, but is an ok resource for Wyatt Earp’s biography.
This movie is the most wasn’t to accurate in something but it was mainly accurate in the portrayal of Wyatt Earp and the shoot out. I believe...
