The Graduate

The Graduate is a timeless film. You're simply not going to find a film with sharper, more biting, socially conscious humor. It's funny in a low key and sardonic way. That's at least what Brian Webster of the Apollo Movie Guides Reviews would say. He almost loved every aspect of the film and had many reasons why. He thought the lighting and the sound were great. He also thought the director did a spectacular job with the film and the historical background was true to its time. The director's message was clear and the effects great and ahead of the time.
The Graduate is not about the horrific times of the 60‘s and 70‘s. It stays clear of the issues of the Vietnam War, racial segregation, and women's rights. Brian Webster thought that this was a good idea and made the film have a story that was timeless. One that could always be related back to everyday life and the meaning never fade with age. He did this in the movie with wonderful characters. He thought they looked incredibly real and that Mrs. Robinson (Bancroft) was "wonderfully painful to watch.". He also thought that Dustin Hoffman looked and played the role great, even though he was not what they were looking for at first.
The director of this film tried to establish a main message. "The uncertainty of youth and the ease with which many people sell out.". It also stayed clear of the many other issues of the time, which helped for the main to be clear. This made it not have a time restriction that many movies have. It is a story that is timeless and will always hold true no matter the time or date. It showed the viewer issues' such as the fear of adulthood, the stress of being successful and personal fulfillment, and the hopelessness people feel in the middle ages of all this. The reviewer thought that this message was shown clearly throughout the movie and not just done good but magnificent.
