Reese Witherspoon, 27, is back in the blonde biz as Elle Woods in "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde," new in theatres! We asked her the scoop on being stylish, smart and a superstar all at once!
She's a talented, gorgeous multimillionaire, a movie star who also has her personal life totally together. Clearly, Reese Witherspoon is one those girls, the annoyingly confident ones who've never doubted themselves, even during their dorkiest adolescent phases, right? Well, don't be so sure!
"I wasn't at all the person I am today," Reese says of her teen years in Nashville, Tenn., where she was raised by a nursing professor mother and surgeon father. "[In school], I was really private, bookish and quiet. I liked slipping into different characters and being something I wasn't. I wasn't afraid of what people thought of me when I was acting."
Hmm. Nowadays, it's really hard to picture Reese -- whose portrayal of take-charge, trendy Elle Woods in 2001's "Legally Blonde" was such a hit that she was paid a rumored $15 million for the sequel -- as being scared of anything! In fact, she had no problem asking to be given executive producer status on the "Blonde" sequel, too!
Juggling motherhood, magazine covers and marriage to gorgeous fellow actor Ryan Phillippe (the couple's 3-1/2-year-old daughter, Ava, is possibly the cutest child on earth, if you've seen the photos and Baby No. 2 is due this fall), Reese is one movie star with a mega-life!
For "Legally Blonde 2," Hollywood's Homecoming Queen went Washington. Reese's Elle is about to marry Emmett (Luke Wilson), her law school sweetheart, when she learns some nasty truths about cosmetics testing on animals. Elle and Bruiser the Chihuahua (animal actor Moonie) pack up for the nation's capitol to change the law -- and give D.C. designer flair!
