Romeo And Juliet Connects With Romeo Must Die
This essay discusses the comparisons between the movie Romeo and Juliet and Romeo Must Die. It will provide details to how exactly these two movies connect with each other.
One reason why Romeo and Juliet connects with Romeo Must Die is that the "family feud" takes place in the African-American nightclub, where a member of the Chinese family and also the son, Po, disrupts the peace causing a verbal fight. Eventually having another member of the Chinese family interrupting, Kai, creates a civil brawl settled by the club owner, Slinky. Declaring "guns don't kill people, people kill people." The exact scene is set in Romeo and Juliet script, where a Capulet and a Montague "quarrel" until another Montague disturbs and creates a civil brawl. This shows that Romeo and Juliet connects with Romeo Must Die.
Another reason why Romeo and Juliet connects with Romeo Must Die is that Juliet is the African-American father's daughter, Trish and Romeo is Han from the Chinese family, not knowing who they belong to they fall in love at first sight. Both of them have humour in common and do not feel uncomfortable around each other. As Trish shows this by declaring towards Han, "I've been with more dangerous guys than you." This illustrating the love at first sight, similar to Romeo and Juliet, which connects with Romeo Must Die.
The two fathers of each family are another reason why Romeo and Juliet connects with Romeo Must Die. The African-American father owns a business with the Chinese father yet both do not trust nor like each other, thus being similar to Romeo and Juliet because the feuding between both families cause a lot of havoc. For example, when Po passed away, the African-American father gave his condolences to the Chinese father but he declined the condolence.
