With casting done at colleges and university's around the country, the hottest trend in America comes to the big screen with The Real Cancun. The unique cast of people explore reality while on the ultimate spring break vacation in Cancun, Mexico. Rated R for strong sexuality/nudity, language and partying, this movie is definitely for the 17 and over age group. While many movies have people who are acting, this movie is based on real events that happen when college kids go wild.
This is not your parents spring break. The bands on stage are singing lyrics much different from those of the Beach Boys. "The Real Cancun" seems as thin as the bikini straps worn by sunburned girls. This unreal little peep show will leave some viewers with hangovers and others longing for the "responsibility free" week in their college days. MTV is aiming this movie at its key 18-25 year old age group. "The Real Cancun" involves the filming of "real" people, meaning insecure teenagers, not actors, stuck in a tropical location where they are forced to interact with the people around them. In this case, the location is a beachfront hotel with the most tolerant of cleaning staffs and the teenagers are filmed in every aspect except the bathrooms are thankfully off limits.
In this place where belly buttons become the shot glasses of choice and it is usually enough to know someone's first name before having sex, this movie pretty much reminds everyone over the age of 24 that they are no longer invited to party the way we do. Parents should know that this movie has a alcohol-content level high enough to make the audience feel drunk. Parents should also know that sex is a major theme of this movie and that the camera follows several couples into the bedroom with nothing hiding them but a thin blanket.
