One of my favorite motion pictures I’ve recently seen is 2001’s “underrated movie of the year”: Rock Star. Starring, the former singer, Mark Walhberg, the story is a doses of pure nostalgia that carries the spectator into a fantastic trip through the 80s’ decade, when the heavy metal/hard rock jet set escorted the music business. Director Stephen Herek keeps faithful to his musical background, this being his second job related to the hard rock scene -his first one been the bogus “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures”- and he did indeed a splendid masterpiece of soundtrack again which boosts the movie to almost excellence. ... So Chris has to decide whether is more important his lifetime’s dream of rock-star luxury or his love. ... Another good reason to have in mind is that Herek himself is a rock fan so whatever he portrays he does it with intimate intentions and knowledge. ... He himself becomes an “icon” for the rock culture in his quest. His mere image -when being a rock star- signifies adrenaline, extremeness, lack of control and ecstasy.
