Life Imitates Art, and Political Films Break the Trend
People are like sheep, and if everybody is doing something, then it must be all right for all to do. ... We are told we have political freedom. Through personal reflection (and classes such as this one) it is clear that political freedom is an idea, and not a fact. And political freedom is only an idea to attract the masses to one’s party for the purpose political gain. ... The question is raised, do political movies such as the ones we watch cause people to think a certain way, or do they reflect views existing already? Well, it seems evident that most of the films we watched clearly had an agenda. ... They are going against the grain, which are those seemingly innocuous films filled with buxom women and testosteronal men, and overly patriotic, rose colored lensed films. The films that seem too non confrontational to be a threat to our minds and opinions. Yet the films we viewed were the exception to the rule, they were a cry for help! It seems clear that political films are perhaps the last voice of reason left in our country’s media at all. ... (Which is clearly perpetuated through most mainstream films and television shows). This class envy and rivalry has been inducted by films, commercials, and those raised in the houses of the wealthy, by actors and actresses and sports role models who are paid with immense amounts of money. ... And how many of our films are really a glorification of our nations’ proud history (when really our nation’s actions are horrific and not just)? ... So this is what I have noticed from attending this class and watching all our films which try so hard to wake us up.
