La Amistad 2

The movie Amistad tells the story of a group of Africans who were illegally captured and sold into slavery. They revolted and took over a Cuban ship, La Amistad, and tried to get the crew to sail them back to Africa. They were eventually stopped by an American Navy ship and taken into custody. Most of the movie takes place in the American court system where a group of abolitionists work to prove that they are innocent of any crimes and should be returned to Africa.

I have used this movie as part of my studies for the last four years, however district guidelines require that a parental permission letter be sent home before showing any movie with a rating above PG. If you would like to preview the movie, please let me know and we can make arrangements to send it home. Alternatively, you can rent the movie and watch it for yourself at your convenience. In order to make the movie suitable for our students, I have taken out the following scenes.
