Music is one of the most influential ways to express ones feelings and beliefs. When people listen to music they don't only listen to the sounds there also listening for the lyrics to find meaning to the song. With this they can pull out their own message and apply it their life. Movies can also influence a person on certain topics. Eight mile is a movie that combines a mixture of Cinema and Music into one presentation. In this movie the main character "rabbit" is a struggling lower class white male that lives in a trailer part in Detroit.. Rabbit goes about his days like most people but with harder times to face. He is a struggling rapper who can not face his fears to pursue his dreams of making it big. The movie Eight-mile sends three messages that a person can learn from. One of the three messages is how to survive hard times, which many can relate to.
When dealing with Rough times discussion about the problem can be helpful, but visualizing the situation through others is more helpful than discussion. Eight Mile does a great job of displaying valuable lessons on hard times. On one example, Rabbit breaks up with his girlfriend, whom he lives with. He leaves her the car because of a suspected pregnancy. So now Rabbit is out of a car and a home with no where to go but his mothers house. When rabbit gets to his moms he realizes that she is living with her boyfriend whom happens to be the same age as Rabbit. Another example is how Rabbit wants to be
a rapper but is to shy to face his fears. Rabbit goes through a series of what are called "Battles". Battles are contests between two rappers rhyming against each other. On Rabbits first chance up he gets nervous and quits. After this Rabbit had to climb his way back up by surviving the embarrassment and believing in himself . Believing in your self is another good lesson taught by the movie.
