At its most basic level dreams are what drive an individual to move forward. All progress in life was and is based upon a dream, which is a goal, thought, or an idea that has yet to become a reality. Without dreams life can become very unpleasant, stagnant, and raise internal questions along the lines of “Is this all life has to offer?”. This can lead one to believe that where one is at in a point of time will be the place that they will be forever. When one does set their sights on achieving their dream, even if that dream is not realized, much is learned along the way. This was the case for two young inner city boys named Arthur Agee and William Gates. With the dream of playing professional basketball as a means of “getting out” many life lessons where learned along the way. As young children both boys were given a chance at a better life at the cost of exploitation. They had a skill that could be capitalized on, so they were given the option of going to a private school, unlike others in their neighborhood. In order to attend the private school, St. Joes, both would have to travel about an hour and a half each way.
