Hamburger Hill
Hamburger Hill Paper
I choose to answer question number three which is "What did you feel, learn or experience as you watched this film? Be specific and use at least five examples from the film. As I was watching "Hamburger Hill" I tried to understand the different types of emotions that the soldiers in Vietnam experienced. One emotion was the fear of death. Another was the eagerness to get home and away from battle. One more emotion was the bond of friendship between them.
Though the military does its best to train their soldiers to fight without the thought of death the soldiers however are human beings and will think about dying no matter what happens. When the new recruits are being instructed about how the enemy moves and thinks a Vietnamese fighter is crawling under the wire with a bazooka. The new recruits realize how quite the enemy are and should be cautions at all times. In Vietnam, many of the deaths happened not by gun fire or explosives but by diseases and snake bytes. Another reason from the soldiers on both sides to be careful at what they do.
The soldiers are sick and tired of seeing blood and dead bodies and all they wan to do is go home and be with thier families. They realize that they can die anytime and the last thing on their minds is seeing the world again. The soldiers experience in Veitnam is an experience they will never forget.
When the film begins everyone is somewhat distant from eachother. Towards the middle of the movie after all the battles and blood shed they become closer. They learned that on the battle feild it doesn't matter what color or backround you're from everyone is same on a battlefield. At the end of the film they developed a brotherly bond with eachother.
