Halle's Triumph

Halle Berry was one of Hollywood's most famous and well-known actresses. But she did not always have it easy. Born into struggle, Halle has overcome many obstacles and made herself well-established in the world.
Halle Berry's childhood was one of endless fights and screaming. She was born on August 14, 1966, to Judith Hawkins, a nurse, and Jerome Berry, a nurse's aide. Halle's father left her, her mother, and her sister because he couldn't get along with Judith. They were left in Cleveland with just the bare essentials needed to survive. Halle's father came back later on, but it did not work out. They split back up within a year. Halle had a hard time being brought up in a racist community. She was a mixed girl and got made fun of because of this. She was often called names like Oreo and white chocolate.
Many people never knew, but Halle was in many beauty pageants. Without her knowing, Halle's boyfriend sent two pictures off to a statewide beauty contest. In 1984, she won the Miss Teen All-America Pageant. In 1986, she was first runner-up at the Miss USA Pageant. And later that year she won the dress competition in the Miss World Pageant, where she finished third overall. Halle later decided to move from Cleveland to Chicago hoping to pursue opportunities in entertainment.
Halle Berry was best known for her work as an actress. She started her work on the small screen with many films that bombed. One of her first big movies was Bulworth. After that, Halle received many more great roles in movies such as: Monster's Ball, Swordfish, and Die Another Day.
The poor little girl from Cleveland proved that anyone can make his or her dreams come. With hard work and an optimistic attitude, Halle Berry proved this and became one of the most recognized African-American actresses on the big screen.
