How effective is the Mission Impossible II trailer in marketing the main film?

I think that the trailer for Mission Impossible II is effective in market the film, which stars Tom Cruise. It is directed by John Woo, a director famous for his action movies. Action films are generally regarded as a popular entertainment genre for men, due to them not requiring as much thinking as other films, such as an intense Shakespearean drama, and having lots of ‘eye-candy'. This means that action films are, on average, good at obtaining money and becoming box-office ‘blockbusters'. For example, seven of the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time have strong action elements; only three of the films can't really be classified as action. This is shown at http://us.imdb.com/Charts/worldtopmovies. This tells us that Mission Impossible II could be a success purely based upon its genre (though the action elements would have to be shown in the trailer – which they are; I will refer to this later).
MI:2 is a sequel to the extremely successful Mission Impossible (it's success is based on the film's very healthy $422,000,000 gross). Many people (at IMDB.com) enjoyed this movie and said it was a wonderfully woven tale of action, intrigue and drama. The ending was quite open, leaving the opportunity for the sequel which has now arrived. People watching this trailer would remember their experiences watching its prequel, therefore enticing them to view the main movie. Even if a viewer did not enjoy the first film, there is normally an element of curiosity with regards to sequels.
Another selling point is the fact that the film was directed by John Woo and that it starred Tom Cruise. John Woo is a very famous director, whom a lot people believe has a fantastic talent for action films and Tom Cruise is a popular, bankable Hollywood superstar; so this collaboration would surely persuade most people to...
