Heroes And Villians

The plot of a movie is usually the conflict and resolution of a problem. The problem is always between the hero and the villain. The hero typically wears white and saves the day as where the villain usually wears black and causes havoc.
The hero is always battling an arc enemy that is the most evil person in the whole movie. Heroes are typically the handsome, stylish, suave characters that have an alter ego and a love interest. Heroes are known for finding a way to save all the innocent citizens, deactivate that bomb and solve world hunger all at the same time. Superman is an example of the stereotypical hero. His alter ego is Clark Kent and he loves Lois Lane. Spiderman is another example of a hero. He has both an alter ego and a love interest. Harry Potter is also a typical hero. He has an alter ego when he lives back at home and his love interest is his friend Hermione.
The other typical main character is the infamous villain. Villains wear black, cause trouble and lurk in the shadows. The main goal of the villain is to spoil the hero's plans. The typical villain has a sidekick and is out to get the hero. An example of a villain would be Ursula from the Disney movie the Little Mermaid. She was out to get Ariel and her sidekicks were those two dirty electric eels with the yellow eyes. The Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz is another main character villain. Her sidekicks were the flying monkeys and she wanted to kill Dorothy. In Disney's movie the Lion King the villain would be the lion Scar. His sidekicks were the laughing hyenas and he was out to get Mufasa.
Although not all main characters fit perfectly into these categories they can identify with one or the other. Every story has to have a hero and a villain other wise the story would have no conflict or action. In short there would be no drama or suspense to keep the audience entertained.
