Bulworth
The film "Bulworth" was a film that intertwined American politics with race and those who are frequently unrepresentative in the country. It is about Democratic Senator who is up for re-election and has been going through thoughts on suicide and neglect from both wife and daughter. He hires a hit man to kill him as a way of committing suicide. Now, he feels free to express himself in front of blacks and upper class whites. After being exposed to the inner-city in South Central, L.A. He starts dressing differently, acting and raps all that he wants to get across.
Many audiences might think that it was a joke for a white man to "act" as a black man. But in reality, for the most part who or what group of people would like to be represented on TV, like drug dealing ghetto living gun using people. I did not approve of this film many other films because how demeaning they are to minorities, how Hollywood portrays them to be considered low and not educated enough. What I do not understand was that Bulworth rapped all he said, but no did not rap without using foul language; on the other hand every other word that came out of his mouth was bout f-ing, b-chs, drugs, etc. How could anyone not be ashamed of this type of presentation of his or her culture? Is this what people really think that ghetto is about? Why didn't they emphasize in this film about how those who do live in the ghetto and go out each and everyday to work hard to be able to maintain themselves and there family. Why not emphasize on the educated teenagers and children, and not like this moving focused on a small black child that used foul language, sold drugs, and carried a gun with him. I honestly do not think this movie sent whatever message they were suppose to, and if they did, I didn't catch on. All I got were negative images, right after the next. I believe that if you want to change society, a big way we are influenced is by our movies, so change our movies.
