Antwone Fisher is a young, navy seaman who could have a great future ahead but lets his horrid past throw him into violent outrages. Denzel Washington plays Sergeant Davenport, the marine therapist who uses a different approach at a hard-hearted Fisher.
Davenport immediately sees potential in Fisher, and decides to let him stay silent for their first few sessions. Then Fisher begins to open up, revealing his haunted past about his abusive grandmother and the murder of his best friend.
As a child, Fisher and his brother had to endure physical and mental abuse.
