The scene I chose to analyze came from the film “Goodfellas”. In particular I chose to analyze the Copacabana scene in which Scorsese shows the first real date between Henry and Karen. Essentially, this scene is in the movie to introduce the power and respect that follows Henry, to Karen. ...
The Copacabana scene begins with a close up of someone handing keys and a twenty dollar bill to a valet. ... This piece of the scene sets up how most of the scene goes, essentially that most of the people in this movie are governed by money. ... He suggests that people are secondary by beginning the scene with the hand off and then pulls back to a medium shot of Henry and Karen with a brief glimpse at the valet. ... As for this scene the only real confirmation of their shallowness is the music Scorsese chooses. ... As for the kitchen aspect of this scene representing Karen it would have to be by the music that gets drowned out by the noise of the kitchen. ...
This whole scene seems to be filled with a royalty theme in which both Henry and Karen are treated like royalty or at least with a great deal of respect. ... Even though towards the end of the scene she says she does not find it odd that Henry has the kind of connections he does her face tells a different story.

The scene in the Copacabana is a very good scene to watch after you have already watched the full movie several times because you will seem to pick up small hints that hint at future events. Throughout the entire scene there are small hints that do not specifically tell you what is going to happen just that eventually something will and it will be bloody and along the lines of the downfall of a king.
