Abortion
One of the most controversial questions of all time is abortion. Is it morally acceptable to have an abortion? Many people (pro-choice) believe that women should have a choice, to have an abortion or not. While others (pro-life) believe that the fetus should be protected and that having an abortion is murder. These groups of people are constantly battling against each others views, holding protests, and picketing outside of government buildings trying to convince others to join the fight on there side. The most important factor is when does the fetus become a person? This is the point that Pro-life and Pro-choice groups disagree about the most. Most Pro-life people believe that the baby becomes a person at conception or shortly after, while most Pro-choice people think it becomes a person later in the pregnancy. I believe that abortion is morally wrong in any and every case. Sometimes pregnancy happens by accident, by the breaking of condoms or rape but the woman is still morally obligated to the birth of her child. Abortion is a serious problem in this country, taking millions of innocent lives every year, most of which could have been avoided.
I believe that a woman should have control over her body. She can do this by using birth control and insisting her mate use a condom. When a woman becomes pregnant, it is no longer only her body, she is now sharing her body with her growing child. If people who are not ready to start a family always used protection, hundreds of thousands of abortions could be avoided. In 1992, over 1,350,000 abortions were performed in the United States.(Lifeinfo) That?s roughly three times the numbers of American casualties during World War Two!
