A mans ego

A Man’s Ego The character, Erin, in the movie, Enough, exemplifies a man who battles for complete control through many forms of uncivil acts towards his wife. His steady harassment consists of threats on the lives of his wife and her daughter if his does not comply to stay with him. When the wife, Slim, tries to run, Erin’s brutal behavior is divulged with very brutal acts such as beating her and sending people out to kill her. Although these harsh acts seem to show that he has no conscience and possibly does not care for his wife, his love for her is revealed when a friend from his past tells him to forget about her because she is stupid. He replies with words of love in her defense. Erin is very much like Stanley, the character from the play, A Streetcar Named Desire, by Tennessee Williams. They relate to each other in that they both strive for supremacy within their families. They both resort to unnecessary acts and uncivil actions towards theirs wives to achieve complete control. They both harass people to prove their superiority to those who are under them. In addition, they both resort to brutal acts of violence when their harassments do not seem to succeed. Although they both resort to harsh actions towards people, they both do it either to prove a point, or to sustain happiness for themselves.
