First to define the word “ethics” The American Heritage dictionary defines ethics as “a set of principles of right conduct.” Simply stated, personal ethics to me are the rules we impose on ourselves Personal ethical codes are a different and somewhat more subtle matter, for the contracts are with ourselves. The benefits of keeping this contract are internal as well. In fact, a personal code arises from the reactions that cannot be explained by the external (e.g. legal or beneficial) aspects of one’s own actions.
