A Letter Out of Darkness Dear Mr. Twain, To you, I am something that should be exposed for the true thing that I am. You want to tell me of the things that I have done wrong. You speak of the things I know, you tell of the things I don’t. To you, I am hiding from the knowledge that you wish to teach me. You tell me to move from the dark place in society, but this is the place that I feel most comfortable. You said yourself that the Blessings of Civilization are love, justice, gentleness, Christianity, protection to the weak, temperance, law and order, liberty, equality, honorable dealing, mercy, and education. These things are what you tell us we should know, and yet we already do. We provide these day in and day out to our families, neighbors, and loved ones. We give our children love, and teach them gentleness. We have law and order within our community. The government gives us liberty, equality, and mercy. They protect the weak from the wrongdoings.
