A Man For All Seasons, which was released in 1966, received much recognition from film critics as well as the general public. As part of this recognition the film was nominated for several academy awards and received Best Picture, Best Director (Fred Zinneman), and Best Actor. Zinneman directed Leo Mckern, Paul Scofield, Wendy Hiller, Orson Wells, John Hurt, and Robert Shaw who played the lead roles in this film. King Henry VIII, played by Robert Shaw, requested the Pope to approve his divorce from Catherine, so he would be able to marry his brother’s widow, Anne Boleyne.
