All Alone
Lonely...depressed...feelings you feel everyday as you walk down your school's hallway. You would do anything to "fit in" or be "normal", but the truthfully your not. The fact is that almost everyone will go through this at one time or another. You wonder why people would want to make people feel this way. People who face the world everyday all alone, are the same people you will one day see behind bars for murders, bombings, burgulary, and to think that could be prevented it someone would reach out to them. If you think about the terrible events that took place at Columbine, you wonder if someone had only reached out to the killer, then maybe just maybe, it could have been prevented. At least, thats what I ask myself everyday when I think about my friend Justin. When we were younger, we were best friends. We played all day together, and were the best of friends. As the years passed by, out friendship slowly faded away. The next thing I know, i'm in high school and hadn't talked to Justin since the 7th grade. He was "the weird kid". His beautiful blue eyes now were filled with pain, anger, and fear. He was rude, and made it clear he didnt care about anyone, so everyone just needed to stay out of his way. FOr the next two years, it got worse. I never saw him with any friends. At lunch he would sit by himself, and I was to embarassed to go sit with him. Something now, I wish I would have done. That summer, Justin commited suicide. After his funeral, his mother found his journal. It contained his wishes, the first one, to have a friend. In a society today fixed on looks, style, and beauty, being "accepted" seems harder and harder to achieve. But if everyone took time to care, just think what a difference could be made.
