Dozens, if not hundreds, of emails were sent among the 9/11 highjackers and their support groups. The ability to intercept these items, off public airwaves, would have easily led to prevention of the tragedies. Recently in Phoenix, Arizona, a teenage boy committed a drug overdose suicide while being watched via web-cam by a dozen others. They laughed and joked, then argued among themselves about calling for help. The boy’s address and phone number was exchanged during the on-line chat, yet he was left to be found by his mother the next morning. It would have been easy to intervene, had someone in a law or safety enforcement office been aware. A middle-aged man sits at his computer, chatting with a young girl eager for friendship. He has described himself as a young man, searching for himself and someone to love. This is the last of many chats, as he has finally convinced the girl to come out to meet him. An hour later, he watches her walk slowly to his car, in the darkness of a closed mall. As she approaches, he grins, remembering the last time…Suddenly there’s a loud BANG, and the sound and feel of shattering glass fills his world, and the girl is safely whisked away by federal agents.
