Energy is a term stated in science numerous times and it is what makes us and every living organism move, grow, and even live on Earth. The world is advancing and more people are using energy then before, for lighting their homes, to move their cars, trains, or planes, and even to turn on their devices, such as flashlights, computers, or mobile phones. There are many sources of energy on this Earth that includes coal, biomass, solar, and wind. Coal energy is one type of energy that is inexpensive and very rich in amount. Coal is a sedimentary natural rock that contains a large amount of carbon. Coal is formed by very old plants and animals that build up in damp peat swamps. As plants die off in a wet area, they pile up into peat. It takes between 4,000 and 100,000 years for one meter of peat to mount up and the procedure happens best in river deltas or coastal plains. Over a period of time, these peat layers are packed together by additional deposits and the carbon inside the coal is concentrated. Coal deposits, at the present time, are found buried beneath layers of sandstone and limestone all over the world. Removing the coal from the ground is a fairly simple task which involves digging underground and actually finding the coal. The coal is then broken up into many pieces and transported to be burned. The next step is where the coal is actually used to make energy, and takes place in a coal plant. In most coal plants, coal is heated into a furnace where it burns while above ground.
