The only real downside to Cardinal Law's twisting slowly, slowly in the wind this week in Rome has been the cover it's provided to the Corrupt Midget. With Bernie getting two in the red hat, the 65-inch-high consigliere of the Bulger Crime Family has been able to slither back under his Connemara-green rock after taking the Fifth before a committee of Congress a week ago today. What questions do you suppose Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) was planning to ask the $309,000-a-year boss of UMass, among other things? Well, through a source who is not a member of Burton's committee, we have obtained a copy of the questions Bulger was to have been asked. And despite the protestations of Bulger's scally-capped, tomato-nosed, disability-pension-collecting hacks, the questions were all legitimate. Not a McCarthy-ite query in the bunch, as if, by the way, Bulger and his crowd had any problems with Tailgunner Joe back when he was running amok.
