Biological Technologists

Biological technologists and technicians do various things. Their main job is to provide technical support and services to scientists, engineers and other professionals working in fields such as agriculture, resource management, environmental protection, plant and animal biology, microbiology, cell and molecular biology and health sciences. They may also work on their own in these fields. They can be employed in a lab our out in the field doing research for many different companies, even the government. These people can be called by many different titles. They can be agriculture technician, agriculture technologists, agrology technician, and many many others that are too many to list. The main duties of a biological technologist is to do research in the field or in a lab, write reports on their research, analyze the data they collect, supervise at fish hatcheries or greenhouses, and perform experiments on things in their related fields.
To become one of these completion of a two or three year college program in a field related to agriculture, biology, microbiology, and wildlife or resource management. Then the person must complete a one or two year study of the field they plan to go into.
An average salary for a biological technologist is around $41,397 for males and $25,349 for females. It is possible that these are in Canadian dollars because these figures were taken from a census around Winnipeg, Canada so it may be different in the U.S.
Some companies that might employ biological technologists are Advanta Seeds, Agpro Grain Inc., Cangene biotech division, Living Prairie Museum, Manitoba Testing Laboratory, Vita Health Co, and Viventia Biotech Inc. These are just of the few of the thousands of places worldwide that might employ biological technologists.
