Playboy of the Western World

Playboy of the Western World On Sunday October 21, I attended “Playboy of the Western World” in the cellar theater of the Fine Arts building at the University of Georgia. The play depicted a story of a young boy named Christopher Mahon. Christy, as he was called in the play, wonders into a small Irish pub and claims to have killed his father, Old Mahon. Astonished at this feat, the townspeople fall in love with Christy; however, Christy’s father is still alive, and he shows up at the pub. This twist to the plot makes it all the more interesting. The townspeople eventually turn against Christy and kill him. The first actor/actress that really caught my attention was Anna Mitcham, who played Margaret Flaherty, the daughter of the pub owner Michael James Flaherty.
